PORTFOLIO PLAN
1-Ace Hardware (ADVERTISING DESIGN)
Project: Design 3 advertising posters and coupons advertising sales in the Fall, Winter, and Spring. Designs will give a vintage look to Ace. Reminding people what it was like before big-box hardware stores. Posters will glorify working, and doing the job without the help of others. They will be colorful and simple.
THINGS TO DO: Coupons
2-The Hard Hearted CD campaign. (PACKAGING)
Project: CD packaging, Show Poster, and Buttons
The poster and buttons support the CD in color and design helping to make the CD more familiar.
THINGS TO DO: Make a poster and buttons, also rework the inside cover of the CD.
3-Louden Wainwright CD campaign. (PACKAGING/ CONCEPTUAL IMAGERY)
Project: CD packaging, Advertising Poster
This design is for Louden Wainwright III’s album “Songs for a New Depression” speaking of the hard times we are currently in. I designed the packaging with “The Great Depression” in mind. It was a time where a lot of constructivist work was going on. The elements in the piece relate to the falling of stocks. The brown paper represents not having the money to buy lunch so you have to bring it from home. The grid was built on squares and circles.
THINGS TO DO: Tweak the CD cover so it prints correctly, not on the folds. Fix the poster.
4-Hellfire Foundation (SYMBOL DESIGN)
Project: This is a cool looking logo. Figure out how to incorporate the logo into other things. Possibly a paintball supply company.
5-Noise Factory (SYMBOL DESIGN/ BRANDING PROGRAM/ TYPOGRAPHY)
Project: Logo Design, Pamphlet or small book advertising a fun exciting place to learn how to play an instrument, and learn how to perform in front of an audience.
THINGS TO DO: tighten up book. Create process poster of going from the couch to guitarist. Add more “grunge” to designs. Possible name change: Sound Sweatshop, Sonic Sweatshop, Polyphonic Factory
6-Illustration Page (ILLUSTRATION/ PROCESS)
Project: Have a spread that is full of Illustrations I have made. Illustration is one of my strengths so I need a way to show it.
THINGS TO DO: Gather sketches to show process
7-So Hungry Posters (PROBLEM SOLVING/ POSTER DESIGN TYPOGRAPHY)
Project: Three posters showing that people are hungry and sometimes they have to eat endangered species. This piece is also a showstopper. Its is meant to be ridiculous. Hopefully it can show my sense of humor. Which I think is one of my greatest skills and one that can be put to much use in the advertising world.
THINGS TO DO: Create two more posters: So Hungry He Could Eat a Rhino, and So Hungry She Could Eat a Panda.
8-Bigfoot Advertising (ADVERTISING DESIGN Website)
Project: Posters, Tickets, Shirts. Real world work showing “Dave’s Bigfoot Show” Poster design for three years. The posters have been integral in getting people excited to see Dave’s Bigfoot Show. With limited advertising resources the posters were the only way a lot of people heard of the show. I made them resemble old monster movie posters.
THINGS TO DO: Touch up posters and shirts, Make a website.
9-Survival Book Covers (BOOK DESIGN/ CONCEPTUAL DESIGN/
PHOTOGRAPHY/ PROCESS)
Design a collection outdoor survival story books like: “Into the Wild” “148 Hours” and “Into the Void.” Use similar techniques as I did to make the “Into the Wild” book cover.
THINGS TO DO: Finish other books, on the same page show the photography that goes into the picture (since the picture ends up being so small) also show sketches for process.
10-Guitar Project about different famous guitars (INFO DESIGN)
This project has not been started but, if I have time, it might be good
